In this digital age, many people think that printed products are a thing of the past. Why print something when you can just view it online? Why should you order products from your photographer versus printing them yourself or going through a cheap print shop? Here are some reasons why products are so important and why you should order them from your photographer.
1. High quality is important. Not many people are aware that depending on which type of media you view your photos on, the colors might show up differently. It’s the way different screens are calibrated so a photo you view on your phone might look different if viewed on your computer, your friends computer, your mom’s computer, your iPad, etc. A photographer knows how to counter this subtle but very important difference. Our screens are calibrated with our print shops so when you order a print from your photographer, you know that it will come out showing crisp, clear colors and look as they intended it to look. Our print shops are also generally of higher quality than places like Costco and definitely higher quality than places like WalMart or your local drug store. It may cost a little bit more to have your photographer print them, but it is well worth the jump in quality.
2. Don’t discount the importance of having something tangible to hold onto. This is why photographers push albums so hard. I have had SO MANY clients who tell me they are so glad that they purchased an album. I have even had one bride, who was flipping through her wedding album, stop on a photo and go, “Oh my goodness! I went past this one in the gallery online but now that I see it in print, it’s one of my favorites!!” Having something to hold onto like an album or a canvas you walk past in your house everyday, are so important and as a photographer, I make sure my photos can also be works of art on your walls or cherished as coffee table books for years and years to come.
3. Showcasing your images on your wall or in an album increases the longevity of your memories. Now granted digital media is pretty safe if you back up everything a few times, but do you really want to have to pull them up on your device every time you want to relive your special moments? It takes a few seconds to access sure, but wouldn’t it be special to sit down with a cup of tea or coffee and flip through your wedding album when you need a pick me up or you’re having a bad day and you walk by your wedding canvas on the wall and catch a glimpse. That wouldn’t happen if you only stored your photos on your computer or device.
