“Adventure” | Special Edition Edit
Ever so often I glimpse a photo that reminds me of something else. It can be a fairy tale, a fictional story character, or I just simply see something about the photo that I could make into something else. When this happens, I usually do a Special Edition edit. This one’s inspiration came from this latest senior session I did in Auburn. She had her horse with her and she had mentioned to me that she had always wanted to be barefoot in a fluffy dress and ride bareback through a field. She said that would make her feel like a princess! Well she got her wish. For her senior session she had on a black fluffy dress and was barefoot. Then she got onto her horse and rode bareback across her field. It was amazing! After going through the photos I came across a series of photos that jumped out at me for some reason. It was because she looked regal in them and I just had to turn them into her very own fairy tale.
How is a Special Edition edit made?
They take a lot of time! These photos are compiled of many, many different photos. The one above has over 60 layers!! All of these photos go into Photoshop and are put together there to create something entirely new. On top of that, edits are made to give the photo an almost painted look – like it’s just not quite a photograph. Special effects are added as well.
